Here Design, London, earned Best of Show and a First Place Statuettes for “Curiocity: In Pursuit of London” in Brochure/Book: Craft/Technique: Graphic Design. The design was done for Particular Books, London. The agency had this statement about planning the look for the book:
“Finding the right look and feel for Curiocity: In Pursuit of London took us on a wonderful goose chase around old London A-Zs, Encyclopaedia and other such Miscellanies. Our challenge: use design to find the right hierarchy and structure for this extraordinarily expansive book.”
Each of the book’s 26 chapters features an original hand-drawn map depicting the topic, such as the city’s international communities, underground spaces and even children’s dreams. Here had to select typefaces that enhanced both the writings and the artwork. A review on Amazon.com calls Curiocity “the most beautiful and unusual guidebook ever written about London.”
Graphic Design, was led by Caz Hildebrand, Creative Partner; Venetia Throneycroft, Designer, and Josh Shires, Project Manager. The book captures the range of life in London and includes an original hand-drawn map in each of its 26 chapters. Artists Chris Riddell, Isabel Greenberg and Steven Appleby were the illustrators.
Here also won First Place and a Best of Show nomination for “Herbarium” in Brochure/Book: Craft/Technique: Illustration done for Thames & Hudson, London. The agency also took a Second Place Certificate for Outstanding Creativity in Package Design: Graphic Design for “Glenfiddich Experimental Series,” done for Glenfiddich Distillery, Dufftown, Scotland.
