Judging

Judging for Mobius Awards involves international panels in a variety of countries, and, in most cases, multiple panels for a medium. The following awards are presented:

Overall Competition
• First-Place Mobius Statuette
• Second-Place Certificate for Outstanding Creativity
• Student Award Certificate
• Spec Advertising Certificate
• Best of Show – Selected by a second panel of judges from among the First-Place Mobius winners.

Judges are asked to select winners based on the entry’s merits, including effectiveness and creativity. This means there can be multiple First Place winners. It also means that no Best of Show is awarded in a medium if no winner in that group stands out from other winners.

 

Meet some of our 2017 judges:

Karol Gebrael is an International Theatrical Media Specialist with Universal McCann, helping offer strategic guidance across UM’s global network for marketing and media planning to support Sony Pictures’ releases.

Aden Hepburn is the Managing Director and Executive Creative Director of VML Australia and New Zealand. He has been the driving force behind groundbreaking campaigns for the likes of Microsoft, Hyundai, Kellogg’s and McDonald’s.

Matt Gill is creative director of H&T and Group Creative Director of the Healthy Thinking Group, which has offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland and Singapore. The communication collective specializes in human, animal, environmental and plant health.

Shamaa von Spindler is an Art Director at the Walt Disney Company, Los Angeles, in the area of Product Development and Design. She has lead design direction across a broad range of categories from Fashion and Home to Toys. She is currently leading design direction and product innovation on projects with Le Creuset, Ethan Allen, Pottery Barn, Kitchen Aid and Simple Human.

Leslie Yao is a visiting professor at the Communication University of China and the co-founder of Digital-S, Digital Matrix, Maankey and Ricelebrate. He has nearly 20 years of marketing experience using digital technology to help brands such as SONY, Pepsi, Dumex, Beingmate and Inoherb thrive in China.

John Harris is President and Chief Executive Officer of Worldwide Partners, based in Denver, Colo., one of the largest global networks of independent advertising agencies with 60 agencies in over 40 countries worldwide. Throughout his 25-year career, John has led marketing campaigns across all mediums for brands that include Procter & Gamble, McDonalds, Miller, Coors and American Crew.

Denis Mamo is Creative Ringmaster at White Space Concepts, Sydney, and serves on boards of the National Institute of Experimental Arts and the Australian Centre for Arts and Health.

Doug Burnett is an Associate Creative Director at Leo Burnett Chicago. The One Show named him a Top 200 Creative Worldwide. He works on the global accounts for Samsung, Allstate and Brooks and is currently directing a campaign to smuggle donated USB drives into North Korea.
