The Mobius Awards - Acknowledging Creative Excellence Worldwide

Mobius adds 4 photography awards

With its 2009 competition, Mobius Awards international advertising competition has added four awards in still and motion image capture. Cinematography of the Year will be sponsored by Kodak, and Best Photography of the Year and Photographer of the Year will be selected under the leadership of Lewis Blackwell, an internationally awarded creative director and bestselling author and publisher.

Recipients of the awards will be announced Feb. 22 along with Mobius Best of Show (Grand Prix).
Kodak Cinematography of the Year will be selected from among Mobius entrants in , Television and Cinema/In-flight.

Cinematographer of the Year will recognize the individual who best demonstrates an artistic approach to the visual style of a commercial. The winner will be chosen from among the world’s cinematographers working in cinema/in-flight and television commercials. The winner does not have to have been part of a Mobius entry.

Mobius Photographer of the Year represents the competition’s intent to document and celebrate the image qualities that can really make a difference in advertising. The award will honor a body of work by a photographer who consistently pushes the boundaries of the possible in advertising imagery. The photographer’s work does not have to have been represented among Mobius entrants, but it could be.

“Our objectives are to highlight creative and technical talent that can take communication to new levels. We are also focused on identifying talent with the capacity to rise to new challenges within advertising,” said Blackwell.

Blackwell, a former executive with Getty Images and editor-publisher of Creative Review magazine, works with a group of commercial and non-profit organizations internationally. His most recent book titles include the bestseller Life & Love of Trees, featured on the Ellen DeGeneres Show and selected by Photowisdom, as one of PDN magazine's Books of the Year 2009.
