Aussies take 10 awards in 2015 Mobius competition
LOS ANGELES, CALIF., USA –Australian agencies took nine awards in the 2015 International Mobius Awards competition, including three First Place awards and a Best of Show nomination in Direct.
Leo Burnett Melbourne won First Place Statuettes for "Dream Run" in Commercials/TVC-Cinema/In-Flight, and for "My Family Can" in Direct. "My Family Can" also captured a Second Place Certificate in Public/Media Relations and the Best of Show nomination. The agency earned both of the Spec Advertising Certificates awarded in the competition for "Set in Stone" in Guerilla/Ambush Marketing and in Outdoor/Out of Home-Non-Digital.
"My Family Can" is among three entries competing for Best of Show in Direct. Leo Burnett used a variety of approaches in the campaign on behalf of SPC Ardmona, including a "#MyFamilyCan" social media campaign to raise awareness of having food labels include country of origin. SPC is Australia's largest fruit processing company.
Also winning a First Place statuette was Showpony Advertising, Adelaide, for "Hands Off Our Ambos" in Social Media Marketing. The work was done for SA Health, South Australia.
Winning Second Place Certificates for Outstanding Creativity were Alt.vfx, Fortitude Valley, Queensland, for "Honda Dream Run" in Commercials/TVC-Television, and VML Australia, Sydney, for "Hyundai Website Relaunch" in Digital-Online: Websites, Microsites.
Jack Elliott, RMIT University, Melbourne, received a Student Award in General Advertising for "The Trojan Award." Elliott, with the help of fellow RMIT students James Bennett and Lochie Newham, created the self-promotion, "The Trojan Award" to get agencies to take a look at their abilities as creatives. Elliott is now a junior copywriter at J. Walter Thompson Worldwide, Melbourne where Newham is junior art director. Bennett is brand detective at Cummins & Partners, Melbourne.
In the 45th annual competition, entrants from 17 countries were selected for 42 First Place Mobius Award Golden Statuettes, 43 Second Place Certificates for Outstanding Creativity, two Spec Advertising Certificates and four Student Awards. An awards celebration is planned March 5 in Hollywood, California.
